Early Bird Registration Deadline is Quickly Approaching!
The 2014 Southwest District Conference will be held in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Oct. 29-30, register before Sept. 29 to get the early bird price!
The theme for the Halloween week conference is “Don’t Rely on Gris Gris, Potions and Charms! Use PR to Cure What Ails You.” The professional development sessions are dynamic and filled with timely information to help you add to your public relations toolkit.
Conference Speakers
An example of some of the type of experts who are scheduled to present includeFormer Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco and her former communications team. They will share their PR lessons learned following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005. This is the first time they’ve sat down to talk about this topic. Their insights will be valuable to anyone practicing Crisis Communications. There is also a top communications leader from the Center for Disease Control scheduled to help us add to our planning and communication arsenal.
Conference Entertainment
The evening socials will be held high atop the Baton Rouge skyline featuring unparalleled views of the Mississippi River and featuring the best of southern hospitality.
PRSA Baton Rouge is coordinating a weekend trip to New Orleans following the conference. They are currently working on group rates for any conference attendee (and their guests) to attend a large music festival that features Foo Fighters and Outkast that weekend in the Big Easy. This is a great way to take a mini-vacation when south Louisiana is at its pinnacle of entertainment options. This is the time of year that there is always something interesting going on.
The conference hotel, the Downtown Hilton, is situated on the banks of the Mississippi River in Baton Rouge. It is a historical hotel, recently renovated to meet your every need. You won’t believe the southern hospitality. The hotel rates are terrific too at $139/night.
