March 2013 Print

President's Message

As we head into spring, it’s hard to believe that 2013 is going by so quickly! It’s the time of the year for events, so I thought I’d take this opportunity to bring some great events to your attention.

The first one is the PRSA Southwest District Conference, which will be held in Austin this year. As if you need an excuse to take a trip to Austin, the district’s annual conference won’t disappoint. As home to a number of interesting companies and campaigns, you’ll get the opportunity to learn how to “keep PR weird.” Get it no your calendar for early June and be sure to register this month for a discounted rate!

One of the Tulsa Chapter’s most anticipated events of the year is the Silver Link Awards, where we get a chance to honor some of the year’s best projects, organizations and professionals. As we plan for this key event on June 27, we invite companies and organization to support the industry and its professionals through one of our sponsorship opportunities. We have been fortunate to have some generous and supportive sponsors in the past and hope you will consider joining that group. Keep in mind that proceeds from this event benefit the Chuck Schnake Memorial Scholarship. Also, this is your early reminder to start planning your entries because the Call for Entries will go out soon!

The last thing I want to mention is an opportunity to serve PRSA at a national level on behalf of the Southwest District. The district is working to identify a public relations leader with an interest in providing a voice for our profession. This is a great opportunity not only to represent Tulsa, but also to network with professionals all over the country. If you are interested, have a suggestions, or would like more information, please email me at [email protected].

I look forward to see you all at the March meeting!

Best,

Lucinda Ross

PRSA Tulsa Chapter President
